Setting Up Your Project: Page Size, Margins & Bleed

Learn how to configure your project correctly to meet Amazon KDP print requirements.

What is a Project?

A project is a kind of container where we define the project name, description, and global settings that apply to all templates and assemblies. Inside a project, templates and assemblies are stored.

Global Settings

When a project is created, the page size is defined and shared by all templates and assemblies. Margins and page numbering are also set at the project level and, like the page size, are global and consistent across all templates within the project.

Creating & Editing

To create a project, simply click the "New Project" button, enter a name, and select a page size. The page size can be changed later by clicking the Edit Project icon. Changing the page size automatically updates the dimensions for all templates.

Page Settings & Margins

On the template editing page, there is a "Page Settings" section. All changes made here apply to the whole project. You can set margins (automatically configured for Amazon KDP), and define page numbering format, position, and font.
